Poetry: Survival

Accident unexpected
Crack of a tree branch shaded
Sudden unnatural quiet
All consciousness faded

Caring people
Came to her aid
Helicopter arrived
As she silently laid

A necessary act
To save a girl
Careful, meticulous
Face covered in curls

Dainty clothing
Ripped at the seams
Tattered and slashed
Injury changed all dreams

Emergency treatment
Given with care
Revived her life
Along with prayer

Deeply sleeping
For many a day
Movement is sparse
As everyone prays

Slowly awakened
One eye at a time
Dazed and confused
From coma she climbed

Head injury severe
Lot of healing to do
Treatment intense
But she saw it through

Illuminating dreams
Brought back alive
'Tho things are different
Spirit driven to strive

Amazing recovery
Each day brings a smile
Days never taken for granted
Knowing life is worthwhile
